Everything Everywhere All at Once

everything everywhere all at once movie review

What is the purpose of a movie? To tell a story. To transport you to another reality. To entertain you. If this statement is true then Everything Everywhere All at Once lived up to all of those expectations and more.

I was totally blown away by this movie. It had so many moving parts and all of it fit together so well. The movie had a mix of just about everything:

  • teen angst
  • multiverse theory
  • philosophy
  • action
  • adventure
  • comedy
  • drama
  • love story

I mean it had everything. When I was thirsty I didn’t want to take a sip of my drink because that would mean taking my eyes off the screen for a few seconds. I didn’t want to miss anything.

This is one of the most imaginative movies I have ever seen. The special effects, the acting, the direction, the costume, the writing… all of it was superb.

I honestly don’t know how they went about filming every scene and then stitching it all together to make a beautiful coherent movie like they did. It must’ve been the undertaking of their lives.

I read on wikipedia that the movie cost between  $14.3M – $25M to make. How did they pull it off for that budget? It looked and felt much better on the screen than movies with budgets 10 times that.

I know this movie isn’t for everybody. I can imagine some folks will watch it and feel like it is too schizophrenic for them. But for someone like me it was the perfect combo of storyline and action with comic relief. If you liked the Matrix, there is a strong element of that in here.

I don’t know if it’s one of those movies I will watch multiple times, because frankly it is heavy. It’s one of those that may take years for me to watch again because it is so complex.

I give this movie 94/100 on Baldy Potatoes.
