This movie reminded me of a story you would find in an episode of Tales from the Crypt or even the Twilight Zone. Basically, a guy makes a wish and upon it coming true, he soon regrets it. I won’t go into any further details of the storyline for fear of spoiling it. But if you watched the movie trailer you get the idea.
I thought they should have called the movie “Beware What You Wish For”, based on the old cliche. It seems like a very fitting name and is a bit more unique than “Obsession”, which has been used a total of nine times as the title for feature films.
Anyway, this movie starts a little slow as they establish who’s who and the dynamic between all the characters. It takes off rather quickly after that and keeps you locked in.
There is some gore and violence so it’s probably not a good idea to let kids watch it or if you are at all squeamish.
The acting by the two main actors was very solid. The girl especially. She was very convincing indeed. I wouldn’t be surprised if she were nominated for all the horror movie awards and maybe even some of the mainstream ones.
This is a good movie if you want to be a little creeped out and yet there are some good laughs in there as well. I give it 80 out of 100 potatoes.
